Miss Russia Anna Linnikova, who participated in the Miss Universe 2022 competition, has claimed that she was avoided and shunned by her competitors at the pageant. In an interview with Evening Moscow, the beauty queen said that she “continues to receive threats” from Ukrainians on social media.
Anna’s comments come amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. “It was very difficult. From the very beginning, I faced a continuous stream of insults and threats from Ukrainian social media users. Especially unpleasant were the negative comments from longtime acquaintances from Ukraine,” she said.
The diva said that she made new friends during the competition, but it also tested her stamina and her mental strength. “In addition to the fact that I made new friends at the competition, I also tested my stamina and strength of mind. Moreover, I received a lot of flattering comments, the essence of which is that I adequately represented Russia in the international arena. Despite all the difficulties,” she said.
She added that she was avoided and shunned due to her nationality.
“Many others avoided me and shunned me simply after learning about my origins. And the girls from Ukraine and Switzerland generally ran from me like fire,” she added.
Anna Linnikova, however, was all praise for Miss Venezuela and lauded her for her kindness and sensitivity. “Perhaps it was this energy and charisma that helped her take second place,” she said.
“At some moments I was really scared for my life because there were threats of physical violence on the condition that I go on stage,” she said while talking about the threats she received during the pageant after the public found out the address of the hotel where the participants lived.
